THE PRIMER

Capital days. Extraordinary planetary alignments in the Skywatch suggest extraordinary days and times here on Earth. As above, so below. Astrology is a symbolic play, not a physical reaction to gamma rays or gravity. On the stage are ten actors, counting the Sun and Moon. Each has a special role in our lives and a unique personality. Some are lovers; some always have a headache. Their positions constantly change as they move through the signs. The key dates are noted when exact angles are formed between the two actors. And from thousands of years of watching the events in the heavens and the events here on Earth at the same time, astrologers have formulated the following.

Kiss Days occur when two planets are lined up in a trine or sextile – 120 or 60 degrees apart. Energy flows easily on these days, agreement and harmony are easier to find, and circumstances favor expansion and action. These are jackpot days – the time to make appearances, purchases, decisions and to get in touch with the people who can help you. Good days to take the kids to the zoo, go to the dentist, and or buy stock. Positive astrological skies call out a positive time to schedule interviews, beauty appointments, travel and sales calls. Note who calls you on these days – something of value may be offered. The Earthās biorhythms are high on Kiss Days.

Quack Days appear when planets are lined up in an angle that generates friction – the square. This 90 degree angle sets up a boxing match as two opponents fight for power. Moods and attitudes are uneven and often negative or violent in the face of frustration, delays and breakdowns – all more likely on these days.

Other stressful angles, which are considered minor, but still suggest friction and resistance, include the semisquare which is half a square in power. The sesquisquare is one quarter of a square. One more: the inconjunct which always points to health/job stress. Pull back and simplify your plans on these days. Hold off on making important decisions/purchases. Be patient. The Quack is in the air, the Skywatch. Not necessarily in you – you donāt have to dial in. And often you will be happier doing your own thing. Not good days for psychiatric nurses and substitute teachers to work – be sure to tell them.

Two additional planetary alignments also appear in the Skywatch reports: the conjunction and the opposition. A conjunction is powerful as two planets meet and exchange energy in the heavens. Some combinations will be pleasant, while others will be oil and vinegar. Itās the same idea with oppositions. Often we will observe a couple of planets lined up opposite each other who like to dance, and next month feel the tension and negativity of two planets, already enemies, who will face off in mortal combat – as was the case on 9/11 when Saturn opposed Pluto in the heavens. So, these connections are a case by case situation – and something you will learn about as you follow the changing planetary patterns in the months ahead.

Through all of these changes in the heavens, free will is omnipotent. How you choose to use the energy in the Skywatch will determine the outcome of your day. Much like the tides of the ocean, energy levels ebb and flow. Our tide chart is the Zodiac and planets. The success of all endeavors ultimately falls back on each of us individually. Kiss Days can still leave you with a bad taste in your mouth if you are on the wrong path. And if you are comfortable in your routines, Quack Days will be just light skirmishes instead of high drama conflict.

RETROGRADES

If you carefully follow the planets as they transit around the Zodiac – the wheel of signs – you will observe that all of the planets (but never the Sun and Moon) at some point in their travels will stop moving forward. And begin to move in a backwards direction. The scientific explanation of this event is that the Earth speeds by in her elliptical orbit thus making the other planets appear (thatās the key word) to be moving backwards. Astrologers call these backward periods: Retrogrades. And they are important – a sign in the heavens. When a planet turns Rx, the energy, people, situations and meaning/awareness of the planet becomes clouded, changed and often unreliable.

Itās a disturbance in the force of the particular planet; it is temporary. But not the best time to make accurate assessments – as you are likely to change your mind after the Rx period ends and wish you had never bought that expensive sports car. Or furniture. Or gotten engaged – Venus Rx.

Mercury Rx is the most common Rx cycle. He will back up on the bases three times every year.
Each Rx cycle lasts about three weeks. Mercury is the messenger planet who rules all forms of communication and the machines we use to travel in and communicate with – all more subject to malfunction/breakdown when Merc appears to be backing up in the heavens. He also rules the winds, which is why out of the ordinary weather patterns, often tremendous storms, are also to be expected during the Rx cycle. Misunderstandings, errors and detours are also more likely as the Rx cycle clouds our thinking and judgment of new people and situations. Pets and small critters are also ruled by Mercury – donāt let small problems with them get out of hand during the Rx cycle.

Retrograde Benefits: Review, reorganize, rework your most recent plans and concepts. You will discover better ways to organize and develop your ideas during the Rx cycle. Use this time to plan things that will begin after the planet resumes direct motion. Talk less; listen more. Thereās a tendency for people to expose their real, and previously hidden, position or thinking inadvertently during an Rx cycle. People and situations from the past often reappear, and often to your advantage during an Rx cycle. In sales, this is the time to go back to old prospects and connections – save the new canvassing for other days when Mercury is direct in motion.

MOON VOID OF COURSE (Moon V/C)

The Moon travels around the Zodiac quickly, completing the circle in about 28 days. (Pluto takes 250 years to do the same) As she enters and travels through each sign every 2-3 days, she makes contacts/aspects/talks with all the other planets. At some point, she will finish the conversations, walk away, and lose all connection with the other planets and drift out the back door without even saying good-bye. This is when she is Void of Course, when she is disconnected from the rest of the group. As soon as she enters a new sign, she starts connecting with the planets all over again and the V/C period ends. The V/C periods vary in length from a few minutes to 24 hours or more, depending on how the other planets are lined up at the bar. Our intuition and judgment can be cloudy when the Moon is V/C, so itās not a good time to make binding decisions or purchases, or to tackle difficult first-time situations.

Benefits. While we are cautioned to pull back from the material world during Moon V/C, we can turn our direction to the spiritual and find satisfaction. This is a good time for meditation, re-centering, spiritual studies and for helping others. Stick to routine and keep your plans simple during V/C periods and you will not find them to be of difficulty.

  1. I have been following Skywatch for the past several weeks. I've found it mighty interesting; so much so that I bought two Astrology books. Parker's Astrology, and The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need. Are there any other books you would recomend to an amature Astrologer?

    Many Thanks.

  6. I've used this book for years, Richard, and have no idea what you are talking about…

I honestly think you are mistaken…

4 Pisces is not a special point…and there are no specific places in the Zodiac where you would find
    this idea of “well liked.”

    Lance    Feb 19, 07:38 AM    #
  7. I take it back, Richard….

4 of mutable, including Pisces is a Critical Degree…page 252.

    “well liked” threw me off…

but this is what you wanted to know.
