Memo to Tiger Woods:

Transiting Pluto lining up in an inconjunct to the placement of your Saturn, Tiger. I kinda blew it off. I didn’t realize how powerful it would be, and never suspected that you would badly hurt your knee twice (I could have guessed) and still be able to fight off the pain and win. And I didn’t realize how long this whole deal will last.

Inconjuncts are considered to be “minor” aspects and something most astrologers pay little attention to – squares and trines are much more glamorous. Inconjuncts suggest a time when you have to make adjustments in life, which is typically not a big deal.

But you had better watch where Pluto goes in your chart and the aspects he makes – something will come of it. And there is an incredible series of connections to your Saturn and Capricorn that make this “minor” aspect very powerful in your chart and time in life.

Saturn is the planet that rules your knees. And importantly, Saturn is the ruler of your Sun in Capricorn. A difficult planetary alignment of 150 degrees, Pluto inconjunct Saturn, became exact on March 21 in your chart putting intense stress into your body over that entire month. Moreover, Pluto, now in Capricorn which is Saturn ruled, became stationary, stopped in the heavens, and began to back up hitting this most sensitive point exactly again on April 13, 2008. The stress on your body has remained high for weeks. All of it bearing down on your Saturn, er, knees.

This suggests at least two different injuries. And something that has never happened to you before.

Forgot to tell you: An inconjunct in your chart signals a time of stress in job and health matters. And of course this is a double shot of trouble for you, as it is for all athletes, and something that is extremely rare. Pluto in Capricorn makes this difficult connection with Saturn in your chart only once in 250 years.

Your uniqueness continues, even in the trials you must face.

And this may be one of the hallmarks of Pluto traveling through Capricorn for all of us over the next 15 years: more knee injuries. Knees, bones and joints, teeth and your skin are all ruled by Capricorn – all more likely to be stressed as Pluto travels through this earth sign. On the positive side, Pluto also rules surgery, reconstruction, and all forms of healing – new and helpful techniques are bound to appear in the years ahead, too.

It ain’t over. Pluto has an irregularly shaped orbit and he moves very slowly back and forth in a small area in the heavens as he slowly circles the Sun. He will return to make an exact inconjunct to your Saturn again on December 27, which suggests a slow healing process, perhaps a setback of a few weeks. Or you may need more surgery at that time. And it’s still not over…

In another stunning twist of fate, Pluto will return to this most sensitive point in your chart again on July 29, 2009. And again in another potentially crippling sequence, Pluto will station on this degree of difficultly for three months and make one last exact inconjunct aspect to your Saturn on October 23, 2009. This is a longer and potentially more difficult period of stress than has just occurred.

Rarely do I see this sequence of Pluto hitting one sensitive point five times – it indicates an extended period of stress and strain like never before or after in your life.

Be patient, Tiger. Don’t rush back into battle. You have many more great years ahead, perhaps your best. By 2010, this difficult marker will leave. Pluto will move on and head directly for your Sun – a time of great power and strength approaches as the astrological tides turn back in your favor.

For now, be patient and heal, Tiger. Let times change.

  1. As always, an excellent analysis and write-up! Thanks, Lance.
