2009 – The Long-Range View
30 December 08Now we head up into the hills. Up into the rocks and cold, steep ravines filled with cedar, uncertainty, and stunted pine trees. Have we gone back in time? No, but we enter a time we have not seen since 1765. Because this is the kind of energy that Pluto in conservative, earth sign Capricorn brings to the set. And for the next 15 years, we will be challenged to make realistic and practical decisions up in this mountainous setting. Survival will grow more difficult. We will be tested. Values will change. No one can predict from past events – we have not seen these conditions for 250 years. As we look out from our high perspective we see two major armies facing each other in combat on the plains below as the conservative Saturn brigades line up exactly opposite the forces of change, Uranus. They will fight all year long and into 2010. The struggle will signal a time of great changes in the market place, a reduction in high tech and brand name companies and perhaps a new giant in their place. For certain, there will be no peace in the valley. Nothing will stabilize easily. We are in a time of transition and reduction. But also a time for brilliant ideas and a new genius to appear. And for your genius to wake up. In a strange twist of fate, lucky Jupiter enters Aquarius in early 2009 and will be in this friendly air sign all year hopefully helping Saturn and Uranus reconcile. For all of us, this suggests a very good year to network and be involved with humanitarian groups/causes of all kinds. This is a year when people and events that enter your world can bring you a lifetime benefit and help you reach your goals in the future. It’s a very good year to be in circulation, especially if you are single and looking for a relationship – as friendships can turn into something much deeper in 2009. There is a strange and unusual out of focus sequence in this movie, a foggy stretch in the road as Jupiter will meet and hang out with dreamy Neptune for months and months – this is unusual, too. But will be a powerful creative stimulus to the artists as we attach Neptune to music, theatre, film, dance and all the fine arts. Jupiter brings energy and abundance to any planet he touches. Jupiter invites you to concerts and openings, and to write/paint your masterpiece. But there may be some weeks when your vision is impaired and you find solace talking to Jose Cuervo – remember, Neptune also rules drugs and alcohol. Oil, too. Does Jupiter find a lot of oil? Or jack up the price? Dunno. We’ll have to watch and see. Actresses and actors. Lovely Venus will be on stage quit a bit in 2009 but will Retrograde in Aries in March. Love and finances will bring new pressures to bear then (taxes?). You’ll ride past these problems by knowing about this part of Venus’s behavior. Feisty Mars will also Retrograde in late December. Keep your holiday plans simple this year as energy levels will be low and money will be tight. Be prepared. The most discordant note will sound in November when Saturn squares Pluto. Leaky boats will sink – hunger will walk many streets as this cold, hard square hangs out through the Winter of our discontent. This might be the bottom of the market. However, this square will reform two more times in 2010, and Uranus will join in creating a T square increasing the power of this square next year. Maybe it’s just the beginning of the bottom… The Promised Land? It’s more than ironic that Obama now comes into power with such a difficult movie on the screen of America in 2009, perhaps the most difficult financial situation ever, after fulfilling a piece of MLK’s message. No doubt, he will need all the prayers, support and love we can send him. His Jupiter and Ascendant (which we see as his personality) are in logical and experimental Aquarius – the astrological signature of Mr. Spock. Now you know Obama a little bit better and about one of his strengths. And this is why the comedians can’t find anything silly about him to make jokes about, not even his ears.
